Our story began in Nashville in 2010, when Noy Phongsavan and family opened the very first Ginger Thai with a passion for sharing the authentic flavors and traditions of Thailand with the local community.
What began as a family-owned restaurant quickly became a place where guests could enjoy fresh, flavorful Thai food in a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Over the years, Ginger Thai has been blessed to serve generations of families, longtime regulars, and new guests who have become part of our story.
At Ginger Thai, we believe great food brings people together. From comforting bowls of noodles and flavorful curries to fresh stir-fries and traditional Thai favorites, our dishes are prepared with quality ingredients, authentic seasonings, and the same care that has been at the heart of our restaurant since the beginning.
The support of our Nashville community allowed our family’s dream to continue growing, eventually leading to the opening of our second location, Ginger Thai Bistro in Murfreesboro, in July 2018.
More than 15 years later, Ginger Thai remains proudly family-owned, and our mission is still the same — to serve delicious, authentic Thai food and make every guest who walks through our doors feel at home.
From our family to yours — thank you, Nashville, for supporting Ginger Thai and being part of our story since 2010. 🇹🇭🍜
Owner and chef Noy Phongsavan brings more than authentic Thai recipes to Ginger Thai — she brings a lifetime of family tradition, hospitality, and a love for bringing people together through food.
Noy came to the United States as a teenager and grew up in Nashville alongside her six siblings as the youngest of the family. Her father and brothers owned and operated a local Asian grocery store in Nashville for more than 25 years, helping the family build deep roots within the community while sharing their culture and love of food with others.
Growing up, family dinners were one of the most important parts of Noy’s childhood. No matter how busy life became, her parents made it a priority for everyone to sit down together each evening — sharing stories, laughter, conversation, and homemade meals around the table. Those moments helped shape Noy’s belief that food is about so much more than what’s on the plate — it’s about family, connection, and creating memories together.
That passion eventually inspired Noy and her family to open the original Ginger Thai in Nashville in 2010. What began as a family dream became an opportunity to share the authentic flavors they grew up with and the same warmth and hospitality that had always surrounded their own family table.
Today, Noy continues to create authentic Thai dishes using fresh, quality ingredients and bold, traditional flavors. Together with her siblings and children, she has carried the family traditions that inspired Ginger Thai from the very beginning.
For Noy, Ginger Thai is more than a restaurant — it’s an extension of her family’s table. A place where everyone is welcome, food is made with care, and gathering around a meal can make you feel right at home.
